Equatorial Guinea coach Esteban Becker Churukian says his Nzalang Nacional has quality, is strong mentally and tactically and will compete for victory in every match they contest during the Orange Africa Cup of Nations.
The host nation gets the 30th edition of Africa’s biggest football fest on Saturday 17 January when they play Congo at the Estadio de Bata. After the opener against Congo, they take on Burkina Faso and Gabon in other Group A fixtures.
“My team has had good preparations for AFCON. We have a little time to work together but we have done enough and I think my team is very fast, strong and have quality, technically and tactically. My team has intelligence,” Churukian, who was appointed coach about three weeks ago, said.
“I think for us it’s very important to take it match to match. Cote d’Ivoire is for me the favourite, the strong team of the tournament but Equatorial Guinea plays home and there isn’t pressure at all. So we will see how we go with each match.”
