Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday (April 17) that Russia has not passed the peak of coronavirus outbreak yet, as he discussed the situation with federal and regional officials via video-link from his residence in Novo-Ogaryovo.

Putin announced that two new hospitals for patients with coronavirus opened their doors today – a military medical centre in Nizhniy Novgorod and an infection complex in Moscow south outskirts near villages of Voronovo and Golokhvastovo.

The Moscow Mayor reported during the meeting that the hospital has been expanded from 500 beds to 800, and the Russian capital clinics is being prepared to accommodate about 30,000 patients if necessary.

Russia on Friday reported a record rise of 4,070 new coronavirus cases over the last 24 hours, bringing its nationwide tally to 32,008, the governmental website said.
