Rivers PDP Calls For Amaechi’s Resignation For Non- Performance
APC:   Amaechi  is performing excellently well, everybody knows except PDP
 Paul Obiajunwo, Port Harcourt
The Rivers State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday called for the immediate resignation of the Minister for Transportation, Mr. Chibuike Rotimi Ameachi for what they described as “his  lack of performance and visible project in the region.”
Rivers PDP said Amaechi has shown lack of expertise to manage the resources at his disposal and has virtually done nothing as a minister representing the state.
Speaking yesterday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Samuel Nwanosike alleged  that  all the activities of   Amaechi has shown that he cannot managed the resources at his disposal as a minister.
He alleged further that  Nigerians are losing their jobs in thousands on a daily basis, adding that the same way minister sold some of the infrastructure belonging to the state is the same way he is behaving presently.
Nwanosike said: “ We have been following the activities of men in government. I am a Rivers man and by the Constitution, I should have a representation in the place of the Minister. The PDP in Rivers State  has come to the conclusion that  the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi   has failed and should resigned.
“Looking at the light rail project, apart from the one commissioned by Amaechi, which former President (Goodluck Jonathan) awarded, Amaechi has not done anything since he came as minister at a time when a country like China is making progress in rail transport and other areas.
“Look at the Port Harcourt International Airport, which he used as a campaign tool against the government of Jonathan, but two years later, nothing has been dome. He has shown lack of expertise to manage the resources at his disposal.
“If a man takes an oath of office and knows that he has people like us who will monitor him and his performance, he should have done better than what he is doing now. There is no witch-hunt about this because what we are talking about is clear.”
Responding, the State Publicity Secretary,   All Progressive Congress (APC)  Chris Finebone said APC would not like to believe that PDP is calling for the resignation of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
Finebone said: “Well, the APC would not want to believe that Samuel Nwanosike, the PDP Publicity Secretary is calling for the resignation of the Transportation Minister, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi on account of non-performance.
“If he truly did, then he has started skipping his medication again. The truth is that Nigerians know and do easily attest that Amaechi as Minister of Transportation is performing excellently well. The PDP members know this except Samuel Nwanosike and it’s PDP, indeed it is a pity.”
