Rivers APC Caucus Reshuffles: Leaders Cleared Rumour Of Disunity In The Party
Regretted of losing 2015 governorship election
From Paul Obiajunwo, Port Harcourt
The leaders of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Rivers State have advised party members to stop listening to rumours that there is disunity or crack in the party following the recent reshuffle of caucus members by the Minister of Transportation,  Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
It will be recalled, that Amaechi through the implementation committee on Restructuring of Rivers APC under the leadership of Engr. Sampson Ngenebara dissolved the old caucus members and replaced them with the new members.
Though, the dissolution of the old caucus members did not affect the party structure in the state but some of the old members were not happy with the Minister’s action which led to grumble, bitterness and disloyalty.
But at the unity rally/ thanksgiving organized by the new caucus leader of Obio/Akpor local government area, Hon. Chikordi Ogwurie Dike, APC leaders in the state and at the national level who gathered at the event stated clearly that there is no crack in Rivers APC.
From one speaker to the other, the leaders of the party maintained that the change in the caucus members was to strengthen the party and reposition it for 2019 glory, which they said have nothing to do with political witch hunting or leadership disloyalty as being rumored by some persons.
They called on the old caucus members to support the leadership of the new caucus and work for the progress of the party, adding that for the party to succeed in 2019 the recent restructuring was necessary.
Those attended the rally include, Chief Oji Ngofa, Nigerian Ambassador to Netherland,  Chief Andrew Uchendu, Hon. Osita O. Osita, 2015 APC Deputy governorship candidate, Hon. Emeka Bekee, State APC Secretary, Hon Azubike Wajoku, President –General Ikwerre Youth Movement, Hon Lucky Ngozichi Worluh, Victor Gidom, Deputy National  Secretary .
Others are, Hon. Nwelle Wornodi, who represented Dakuku Peterside , Hon. Tony Okocha, former Chief of Staff,  Dr. Lawrence Chukwu, Mr. Iheanyichukwu Zubi Dike,  Chairman Lawyers Network for Change,   All APC local government chairmen in the 23 LGA,  and other leaders of the party.
Explaining the reason why Amaechi   reshuffled the caucus members, the chairman of the Implementation Committee, Mr. Sampson Ngenebara said the reshuffle has nothing to do with anybody but to strengthen the party.
He said those who are angry over the decision of the implementation committee should see the change as an act of God for the development of the party.
He said: “I want to thank the former leader of Obio/Akpor APC caucus, Hon. Tony Okocha for being here today. His presence at this occasion indicates that there is no problem in Obio/Akpor APC and indeed in Rivers APC. We must work as one and place the interest of the party above our personal interest.
“The crowd here today means that the action we took in Obio/Akpor and other Local government areas of the state was in a right direction. I was two years ahead of Amaechi in the university but I respect him so much. We must follow our leader, Amaechi’s vision.”
Hon Tony Okocha, the former Obio/Akpor caucus leader and the new leader Chikordi Dike told the leaders of the party that there is no division in Obio/Akpor APC and that they have only one leader which is Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
The Nigeria Ambassador to Netherland, Chief Oji Ngofa and Chief Andrew Uchendu who has just reclaimed his mandate at the tribunal against Senator George Sekibo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) noted that APC in Rivers State is intact and only waiting for 2019 to take over the government house.
They said many people are not happy with them for not winning the 2015 governorship election in Rivers State, adding that the state has became a thing of disgrace and mockery due to leadership style of the present administration.
Ngofa who narrated how he started as a local politician and now as a global personality said Amaechi as a charisma leader, has grown leaders and empowered many people who are now at the peak of their political career.
Chief Uchendu said: “I must congratulate the new leadership of Obio/Akpor caucus and other caucus from different LGAs, looking at the crowed here today it show that the house is settled for a serious business in 2019. I will like to use this opportunity to make one or two clarifications.
“ Rivers people have been hearing about  the state of affair of the party in Rivers State from Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, some of this things do not have any relevant to governance and the welfare of the people. By recovering my mandate, Rivers people now have an alternative voice.
“The truth is in the recorded memory in the political development of Ikwerre ethnic nationality; there is no Rivers son that has made the kind of contribution Rotimi Amaechi has made in life. Wike said Amaechi behaves  like a god, but Amaechi is not god but the bible said man is god to man.
“If Amaechi has been the instrument of elevation and empowerment of many young people who were at the grassroots and now in the highest level of political career, is he not their god?. And if he has help people who testify as we are testifying today, for me Amaechi is my god.
“Don’t forget when Obio/Akpor people said they are not going to accept Nyesom Wike for his second tenure as the chairman of the council,  Amaechi went on his knee at the residence of late Eric Asor at Elelewon and pleaded on behalf  of  Wike to be given a second chance. And finally the people accepted, from chairman to Chief of staff and then Minister,  how else can man be god to man.”
Receiving over 2000 former PDP members who defected to APC during the rally,  Mr.  Victor Gidom, Deputy National Secretary of party said equal opportunity will be given to new members who decided to work with the party.
He advised them to work hard at their various ward levels and to participate in any position of their choice during the ward and local government convention, stressing that their entry into the party  was  timely and in a right direction.
