Former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel(aka OGD), who is gunning to be chairman of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) in the party’s national convention which comes up on Saturday, December 9th, has assured the members of the party that his coming on board will be the tonic the party needs to return to power at the centre in 2019.
He gave the assurance while on a campaign trip to Benin City, capital of Edo State where he solicited for the support of the party faithful.
Otunba Daniel stressed that of all the aspirants gunning for the national chairmanship position he is the most experienced and qualified in terms of vying for elective position and emerging victorious against all odds citing his landmark successes at the polls as a two tenure (eight years) governor of Ogun State.
He pleaded with the party members to give him their optimum support so as he can usher in an era of discipline and lay the foundation for the victory of the party at the general elections scheduled for 2019.
“I will usher in an era of success and discipline in the party when I become the national chairman.
“During my tenure as chairman of the party the issue of imposition and impunity will come to an end as I will never be a party to such.
“This will no doubt foster unity in the party which will lead to a chain of successes at the polls,” he promised.
Responding, chairman of the party in the state, Chief Dan Osi Orbih, stated that Otunba Daniel has the requisite qualification to be the national chairman of the PDP. He said the antecedents of Otunba Daniel as a performing governor in Ogun State is what the party needs at the national level.
Chief Orbih promised the aspirant of the state delegates support.
