Planned Protest To Hold Monday, #IstandWithNigeria Group Insists

Contrary to claims that the the planned Nationwide Protest slated for Monday February 6th, 2017 has been called off, the organisers say it would continue, denouncing the video by musician- innocent Idibia popularly known as Tuface, purportedly cancelling the event for which it blamed Anti-Nigeria dark minded people.

The group said in a statement on Sunday that musician- innocent Idibia popularly known as Tuface, regarded as the face of the popular action, was never the initiator of the planned #IstandWithNigeria, #RescueNigeria protest and so had no powers to cancel it.

A statement by Ibrahim Sani Ringim, National Publicity Secretary, The Nigerian Wailers, organisers of the protest, based in Abuja, Nigeria, explained that TuFace is one Nigerians who showed interest to play a key role in the march and “was accorded such role because of his person.”

The statement said while Nigerians appreciated his effort, but that beyond such, “the video he released depicting cancelation is false and totally untrue.

“Mr Idibia lacks the powers to cancel the protest because he was never the initiator, his actions has betrayed the expectations of millions of other Nigerians who held him in high esteem because one would have expected that if he wanted to exit the protest, he should have done so personally without speaking for millions of other Nigerians by causing misinformation.

“The Protest is not about any one person, it is about the collective will of the Nigerian people who are suffering from Hunger, Starvation, Recession, Inflation, Bad Governance, Un-abated Religious killing, Corruption, Deceit and everything that is not of fair and better deal for the country.

Consequently, the statement urged “Nigerians to come out on Monday in greater Numbers from every States as scheduled to protest against everything you don’t want because it is your fundamental human rights as enshrined in the constitution.

“The danger of not coming out to protest is greater than what we will face when we remained docile and inactive because more atrocities and pains will be inflicted on us by the wicked people holding this country down,” it added, as a way of taking the country back before a fatal collapse.
