Odu’a appoints new GMD

A new Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer has been appointed by the Board and Management of Odu’a Investments Limited.

The new helmsman, Mr Adewale Raji, will resume duty on June 2 after emerging through a rigorous selection process carried out by the KPMG Advisory Services.

Raji was appointed to succeed the outgoing GMD Adebayo Jimoh who retired voluntarily after nine years at the Southwest business conglomerate.

The new GMD/CEO is bringing 28 years working experience acquired  predominantly at PZ Cussons Nigeria Group where he rose to become the Managing Director (Distribution Services) overseeing the conglomerate’s Strategic Business Unit (SBU) responsible for Outbound Logistics and Customer Services.

Raji started his career with the then PZ Industries Ltd as a Management Trainee in January 1987 with various responsibilities in Administration, Factory Services and Procurement. He was elevated to the position of Central Purchasing Department Manager in 1998.  In 2003, he had a brief stint with Reckitt Benckiser Nigeria Limited as Planning Procurement & Logistics Manager, but was recalled back by PZ within the same year based on his track record of performance. On return, Mr. Raji rose from Depot Services Controller in November 2003 to become the Director of Distribution Services, in June 2005 and was appointed into the Executive Board of PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc Group in 2006.

Over the span of his career, Mr. Raji has hands-on experience in managing people and factories and  extensive customer services to businesses in personal care, home care, food, nutrition and electrical categories.  He also has good international exposure having had secondment in the UK.

Mr. Raji will be bringing into the Group, his wealth of experience especially in the area of Human Resources Management, Business Development, Strategic Planning, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, and Problem –solving skills to bear on the fortunes of the ever rising Conglomerate.

On assumption of office in June, 2014, Mr. Adewale Raji and the outgoing Group Managing Director, Dr. Adebayo Jimoh will embark on a working visit to all Odu’a Subsidiaries and the Associated Companies.  He is expected to meet with some of the Stakeholders before the outgoing Group Managing Director embarks on his terminal leave.

The new GMD, who hails from Ogun State, graduated from the University of Jos in 1985 with a first degree in History and was in the pioneer MBA class of the Lagos State University (LASUMBA) that graduated in 1997 with specialization in Marketing.  He is a Fellow of the Institute of Logistic Management (FILM) and has attended a number of Executive Management Training Courses locally at the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Lagos Business School (LBS), Poise and University of Lagos and internationally at Cranfield and Manchester Universities.
