Yaya Ahmed, chairman of Developmental Association for Renewable Energies(DARE), has stated that ignorance and distrust are the major reasons for the lukewarm attitude being exhibited towards the issue of restructuring by the north.
He made the submission in a chat with the media in Benin City recently.
“If for instance we look at it from the energy point of view we need restructuring. We really have to restructure as we don’t have a reliable energy policy.
“The different administrations that we have had have not been helping matters as they have been shooting themselves in the feet.
“From the social point of view, from the infrastructural point of view and even the political point of view we need this restructuring. I think it’s something that must be well expantiated because there is an element of ignorance, misrepresentation and distrust about the issue.
“You try to distance yourself from what you don’t know much about. For the benefit of all of us we need restructuring.
“We need to put everything on the table and tackle them one after the other. If we don’t resolve the issue now we will compound it until it will explode some day,” he posited.
On advised the aides of President Muhammadu Buhari to give him good advice and stop caging him so that he can translate whatever vision he has for the benefit of Nigerians.
He cited the case of the President of Algeria who though is incapacitated is surrounded by good aides who make his work easy by offering him sound advice on governance.
