New AGIS Director Assumes Office, Targets Revenue Increase

The newly appointed Executive Director of the Abuja Geographic Information System (AGIS) of the Federal Capital Territory administration Jamila Tangaza yesterday resumed office with a commitment to double the revenue generation of the System.

Tangaza who before her new appointment was the Senior Special Assistant on Information Management to the FCT Minister called for collaboration among members of staff of AGIS to consolidate on the success of his predecessor.

She maintained that her focus on the new job would also to motivate AGIS staff to give their best to enhance service delivery.

Her words: “I’m going to give a definition of data management using human resources and all available means to manage AGIS.

We want collaboration from all members of staff, harnessing of skills, utilisation of network of professionals and relationship with stakeholders within and outside AGIS.

“I want to work to redouble AGIS revenue. We need to challenge ourselves,”  she said.

Besides the federal government allocation to the FCT administration, AGIS is the highest revenue earner for the administration.

Tangazah promised to carry on with the good work of her predecessor and to serve without any element of bias, selfishness, injustice or dishonesty and called for the support of AGIS staff in carrying out her new function.

While presenting his handing over notes to the new Director, the immediate past Director of AGIS, Dr. Isah Jalo said he inherited a litany of problems which include touts hanging around the AGIS premises.

Other problems, according to him, include pending applications for registration of land titles for area councils, obsolete AGIS equipment etc. which necessitated the development of a strategic action plan that will reflect the policy of the FCT Administration.
