Kogi West PDP senatorial aspirant laments plan to impose Senator Melaye

Bayo Oyewale, Lokoja

The House of Representative member representing Yagba Federal Constituency , Honourable Sunday Karimi has decried the technicality that was put in place to knock him and other aspirants for senatorial contest out of Contest Kogi West Senatorial District .

Karimi explained that this was done primarily to favour senator Dino Melaye to emerge as the party flag bearer in the senatorial contest in 2019 general elections

He lamented that the National  Chairman of PDP who apologized for the impunity and pledged that the party had learnt its lesson and turn a new life , but unfortunately promoting impunity.

This was contained in a statement signed by him, the lawmaker said he has been inundated with a lot of calls to ask whether  he has stepped down or not .

Karimi has described the purported automatic ticket given to Sen. Dino Melaye as corruption of the highest order.

He explained that  he has  never stepped down for Sen Melaye, said he and four others were crudely eliminated to pave way for a stooge.

” In the last few hours, have received calls from my supporters wanting to know whether I stepped down for crooked Dino Melaye.

“To put records straight, Clearance Olafemi, Hon Henry Ojuola, Erukutu and my self were crudely eliminated to pave way for Dino Melaye to be returned unopposed.

“It is a shame that this is happening in this century. When the chairman of PDP came to power about a year ago he apologized to the Nation for past misdeeds of the leadership of the party, he promised to deepen internal democracy in the party, promised to stop impunity and imposition but today he is wallowing in the same sin.

“The so called MoU is not being implemented fully in several states, not even in other senatorial districts of Kogi State but enforced fully in Kogi West. The constitution and the electoral act is very clear on requirements for nomination of candidates.

“MoU can not render our laws redundant. This is nothing but corruption,” said the last has not been heard of the matter,”he said
