The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has appealed to those have registered for Permanent Voters Card to come and collect theirs cards at the nearest commission’s office in their various localities.
The State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor James Apam who made this appeal while briefing Journalists at INEC headquarters in Lokoja Wednesday.
Professor Apam explained that while the continuing Voters Registration exercise is still in progress , the Commission has registered a total of 245,195 persons.
According to him, this number is made of 123,877 male and 131,318 females, stressing that the commission has treated 9,774 application for transfer and 12,123 cases of damaged or defaced PVCs .
“While registering new voters and treating the cases of the already registered voters, we were issuing out the permanent voters cards of those that registered before 2015 elections .A total of 58, 078 cards have been issued leaving a balance of 200,429,”he pointed out.
The REC also noted that in May 2018 a total of 112,333 new permanent Voters cards were printed for Kogi State ,adding that the number made up of those who registered freshly and those applied for inter – state transfer of their voting points .
“It is disappointing yo report that as at 12 of June 7,943 card out of 112,333 printed for the state have so far collected ,” the REC said .
