Officials of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) were alerted soon after a surging flood submerged their Nissan Pathfinder SUV at about 7.15am Friday.
The men were on the bypass to the airport road when their vehicle stalled and water immediately covered it.
The men climbed on top of their vehicle and started shouting for help, eyewitnesses told our reporter.
An eyewitness, Toba Olagbaye went to the Fire Station at nearby Games Village and alerted the men there.
Toba also went to Human Right radio where he was given telephone numbers of NEMA.
A team of five divers were deployed for the rescue operation. They were joined by local divers in search of the two men swept away by the raging flood.
The driver of the vehicle was rescued while his boss was swept away by the raging water.
A NEMA diver who spoke to our reporter said,”the old man was feeble and could not hold on after a while. He was swept off again into the water and we could not reach him.”
