Jonathan rules out cabinet shake up
President Goodluck Jonathan has denied speculations that a cabinet shake up as imminent, adding that he remained confident in the ability of members of his present cabinet to deliver in their respective assignments.
The president in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and publicity, Reuben Abati, said that at the moment, there was no plan replace any of the ministers.
The statement read in parts: “President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has implicit confidence in the ability of the current crop of ministers to deliver and has no plan to undertake any replacement at  the moment”. He equally said that there was no tension among members of the cabinet, as a result of the rumoured shake-up of the cabinet.
Wednesday’s statement added that there was no truth in the alleged tension among ministers as a result of the rumoured imminent cabinet change. This is a calculated attempt to cause disaffection within the cabinet and divert the attention of members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) from their unwavering commitment to the implementation of the Transformation Agenda of the Jonathan Administration.
“The speculation is the handiwork of mischief makers who seem bent on frustrating the good intentions of the Federal Government to deliver on the campaign promises of President Jonathan, the statement added.
