NMA: Another abducted doctor yet to return after more than one month at kidnappers den

A female medical doctor, Mrs. Florence Onua, has been murdered by unidentified gunmen believed to be kidnappers around Government Reserve Area in Port Harcourt, the River State capital.
Onua, which according to a source was a consultant and family physician at the Braithwaite Memorial Specialists Hospital (BMH) Port Harcourt was attacked and shot by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers while returning from work on Friday.
The source also told our correspondent that Onua, who was inflicted with several bullet wounds later died on Saturday at the medical centre where she was taken Friday night for treatment.
Confirming the development, the Public Relations Officer of NMA in the state, Mr. Justice Ohaka, disclosed that the Onua sustained several bullet wounds and that she died at the emergency ward of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UNIPORT) on Saturday.
Ohaka also revealed that the whereabouts of one Dr. Bob-Emmanuel Clark that was abducted last month is still unknown.
He urged the state government and security operatives to intervene and ensure the safe and unconditional release of Clerk.
Ohaka said, “The incident is regrettable and condemnable. We lost a colleague even when one of our members who was kidnapped last month is nowhere to be found.”
“The attacks directed at medical doctors are condemnable because we are innocent citizens who are ensuring that we save lives, I wonder while the attacks.”
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) said the issue was reported to the Olu-Obasanjo Police Station.
Omoni said when the police moved to the place they did not see anybody to detail them on the incident, adding that the woman did not die on the spot rather she was rushed to the hospital.
