The European Union (EU) has urged the federal government to augment its efforts towards unlocking numerous investment potentials in renewable energy.
The EU also implored the federal government to avoid weak policy implementations and focus more on operationalising them.
Godfrey Ogbemudia, Project Officer on renewable energy of the European Union (EU), gave the advice in Abuja at the Young Journalists Forum, youth dialogue on harnessing the potentials that has been developed and utilised.
He said it was imperative to create the certainty necessary to spur private investments and create an even playing field for independent developers of qualified clean energy projects.
According to him, “the problem now is that we have these policies and targets but operationalizing them, making them work is what Nigeria should start focusing its energy on, making the Implementation of policies more stronger than how it is today because the more we do that, the more we get result.
“If we want to move in the same direction with the world, there is need to look at alternative energy sources and Nigeria has the potentials, we can rely only on renewables, solar alone can give the country 24hours steady electricity, it is very possible,” he stated.
