Edo State Waste Management Board has urged residents of the state “to adhere to the principle of cleanliness by ensuring their premises and immediate environment are kept clean.”
The board stated this in a yuletide statement signed by Godfrey Ehon,Board Secretary, and made available to Daily Times on Thursday afternoon.
Going further, the board stated that “this is to sustain the tempo of a clean and green environment, which is the drive of the present administration towards a sustainable environment.”
The board said it was aware of the magnitude of waste generated during the season, “and therefore wishes to advise the general public to imbibe the culture of simple hygiene.”
It disclosed that there will be three task force officers “whose responsibilities will be to monitor and assist the public on waste matters, to ensure prompt evacuation of refuse as well as strict adherence to laid down rules.”
In conclusion, the board warned that offenders of the environmental sanitation laws will be sanctioned.
