Association of Catholic Medical Practitioners of Nigeria set to hold 13TH ASC/AGM in Benin

Plans for the 13th Annual Scientific Conference and General
Meeting(ASC/AGM) of the Association of Catholic Medical Practitioners
of Nigeria (ACMPN) are in top gear. The Chairman of the Local
Organizing Committee for the Conference, Dr. Lawani Ambrose Onivefu,
disclosed this while briefing the media on the plans and preparation
for the Conference scheduled to hold in the Ancient City of Benin from
4th to 7th July 2018 at the Bishop Kelly Pastoral Centre Airport Road
Benin City, Edo State.
According to Dr. Lawani the Chief Host of the Conference is the
Archbishop of the Metropolitan See of Benin City and the President of
the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), His Grace Most Rev.
Dr. Augustine Obiora  Akubeze.
Dr. Lawani hinted that the press briefing was preceded by a courtesy
visit of the National President of ACMPN, Dr. Emmanuel Okechukwu to
the Chief Host of the Conference on the 11th day of June 2018.Those on
the entourage of the National President were the Executive Committee
of ACMPN Archdiocese of Benin, members of the Local Organizing
Committee for the Conference and distinguished elders of ACMPN in the
Archdiocese of Benin.
Dr. Lawani disclosed the theme of the Conference “THE LASSA FEVER
EPIDEMIC AND THE CONTROL OF NOSOCOMIAL INFECTIONS AMONGST HEALTH
WORKERS”. He stated that the Conference is billed to commence on
Wednesday the 4th July 2018 with free medical outreach at designated
centres. Delegates are expected to arrive same day. The Opening Mass
for the Conference shall be held at 6:10am on Thursday 5th July 2018
at St Paul’s Catholic Church Airport Road Benin City. Thereafter there
shall be Continuous Medical Education (CME) Lectures that will attract
CME Units for attendees. The CME lectures shall be delivered by
experts that cut across a broad spectrum of medical sub specialties
.Later in the day there shall be a Conference Retreat  “MAINTAINING A
FAITH-FRIENDLY SCOPE WITHIN CONTEMPORARY MANAGEMENT SCHEMES FOR
INFERTILITY, HYPERTENSIVE DISORDERS 0F PREGNANCY AND END OF LIFE CARE”
to be delivered by Rev. Fr. Idahosa Amadasun.
The Opening Ceremony shall hold on Friday 6th July 2018.The Conference
shall be declared open by the Executive Governor of Edo State His
Excellency Mr. Godwin Noghegase Obaseki. The Chairman of the opening
ceremony shall be the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Irrua Specialist
Teaching Hospital (ISTH), Professor Sylvanus Okogbenin. Other
dignitaries expected at the event include the Deputy Governor of Edo
State Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, the Vice Chancellor of the
University of Benin (UNIBEN), Professor Faraday Orunmwense, the
Commissioner of Health Edo State, Dr. David Osifo and the Chairman of
Nigeria Medical Association Edo State Branch, Dr.Emmanuel Osaigbovo.
The Guest Lecture shall be delivered by an erudite scholar, the first
female Medical graduate of UNIBEN and a Consultant Public Health
Physician; Chief(Dr) Stephena Udinmade Ighedosa.
The Conference shall be attended by stakeholders in the health sector,
the clergy and the media. Later in the day Dinner and Variety Night
shall be held.
The Thanksgiving Mass shall be held on Saturday 7th July 2018 at the
St Paul’s Catholic Church Airport Road Benin City at 6:10am.The NEC
meeting, AGM Plenary and the release of the Conference Communiqué
shall round up the event.
Dr. Lawani sued for the support of all stakeholders to ensure that the
13th ASC/AGM of ACMPN is hitch free.
