The Chairman of the Edo State chapter of Grassroot Democratic Party of Nigeria, GDPN, Pastor Osarumwense Oshodin, has said that some political big shots like Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former Vice-President, are jostling for the party’s ticket to contest in the 2019 general elections both at the state and national levels.
Pastor Oshodi said this on the occasion of the inauguration of the party’s state secretariat in Benin City recently. He disclosed that some are showing interest to fly the party’s flag for the Edo State House of Assembly while there are those jostling for House of Representatives, Senate and the Presidency tickets. The party chairman said the mission of the party is to help the down trodden, better the lives of Nigerians and give those whom the so called leaders have cast away a sense of belonging.
He said the party’s manifesto stands for transformation and solution to corruption prevalent in the country. The Chairman, who observed that the level of insecurity in the country is alarming, said that the party will provide solution to all these if it comes to power. On his part, the state’s party secretary, Dr. Sylvester expressed confidence in the party’s chances of winning some positions in the 2019 polls, adding that the party has come to stay.
